Faulty or Design Flaw?

Dear Sir or Madam,
A week ago I have bought IB-NAS903 for home use mainly as BitTorrent client. Ever since I have been stumbling upon numerous undocumented and unadvertised bugs/features, which prevents me to use this piece of hardware.
1. BitTorrent client is only PARTLY functional since it DOESN'T seed (and get me banned on every private tracker on Earth). There are also many other vital features of any other sane BitTorrent client ABSENT from the box.
2. BitTorrent client creates errors in files larger then 4096MB. I know that the box only supports FAT32 and files up to 4Gb, but since the support for larger files is advertised - I would expect that to be there. I have made several download tests for files smaller and larger then 4Gb with box's BitTorrent client and my pc's client (uTorrent v.2.05). Larger torrents had numerous errors (in MKV files - periodically 3-4 min inconsistency of 5-60 sec), whereas my pc's client downloaded SAME torrents without a single error. Smaller files are consistent.
3. Sometimes the box under load or in idle state hangs-up - completely random and is not power related - since my cable modem and wireless router is switched to the same power-surged 220v outlet.
Too bad the box is not linux-based and cannot be flashed with custom firmware (e.g.OpenNAS or Optware) and since I bought the box specifically for the BitTorrent use - in present condition it's useless for me. It is plausible that it could be fixed in the newer firmware, but since its been 5 month without the updated I fear that it will never be made.
So my question is: Do I need to RMA the item as defective or should I just return it as faultily advertised?

Re: Faulty or Design Flaw?

Is there anyone who could help?
I have the same problem with BitTorrent. In my opinion we can't download bigger files than 4GB because the file system is FAT32.
It's stupid to make a NAS case with this file system! IT'S VERY SLOW!

Re: Faulty or Design Flaw?

So one month has passed and no respond? Does this mean that raidsonic went bankrupt or tech.support has killed themselves? Anyway, stay AWAY from this product! I have tried torrenting with other solution, and noticed that
1. Torrent speed great improvement
2. LAN speed - improvement in 50-60% and is STABLE (not that nas903-shit, which not only unreliable in LAN environment, but also when reading or writing to it has numerous speed issues).

I have RMAed this box and have got another back from the dealer (though they claim it is new - it is obviously has been used before). I am trying it now for the main problem (torrent file over 4GB corruption) and will report the result here also.

Re: Faulty or Design Flaw?

Do you just LOVE IT when support techies not only understand what are they talking about, but not even LISTEN to you?!
I have bought the unit a month ago and they are still referring people to 6 month OLD (Vers. 1.59b Veröffentlicht: 30.04.2010) upgrade. Obviously this "latest and greatest" firmware was reflashed like 10 times by me and RMA guyes (just to make sure, lol). OEMs need to start putting here people in charge at least with basic knowledge.
Anyway, another box RMAed with the same reasons and a couple more.
bottom line: BEWARE - STAY AWAY FROM THIS NAS AT ALL COST!
