nas 903 mapping problems windows 7

hello
just got one of these and im having problems mapping it in windows 7.
when i try to map the network drive and browse for it, theres nothing showing in windows browse box.
its connected to my wireless belkin router and im able to connect to the inbuilt software via my browser by typing in the ip address.
the router also detect it as a device connected.
i can connect also via usb.
but im unable to map the drive in my computer as nothings showing up in the browse box when you search for it under mapping a network drive.
can any one suggest any help?

hello,

please try to input the mapping folder in the mapping box, such as \\192.168.5.36\public, and then click "Done" to finish the mapping

Re: nas 903 mapping problems windows 7

hi again.
thanks for the tip tracy.
turns out its my avg firewall thats blocking my nas903,
turned it off and now i can map it.
but now i have 2 new problems.
the first, how do i configure avg firewall to allow me access to the nas when its enabled.
second, when i attemp to login in as the main user, my username and passwords are rejected by w7, but i can access the guest account!
ive been reading up the the net that this is a problem with w7.
any ideas what i can do, ive tryed the "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" but this didnt work :(

hi,

the first question, i'm asking for someone else's help, and i will give you an answer as soon as possible.

the second question, if you want to use the main user to access FTP or Samba, you have to register a set of account/password in FTP Server/Samba server, because only the guest account is the default account.

Re: nas 903 mapping problems windows 7

hi,

the firewall problem, please check the configuration of the firewall, find whether it prevented samba service.

the problem of " be able to access every folder on it ", at your PC, via start--->run--->input \\yournas IP(e.g. \\192.168.5.100)---press Enter, then enter your account and password, you will see all the folders on NAS.

Regards
