Icy Box IB-351StU3-B not happy with Windows 10

Hi,

I have been using two of these enclosures for the last couple of years with no problems. Upgraded to W10 a few weeks ago and now find that both units are not being recognised. Tested with different cables and ports but no luck. I did search for problems but not found anything online so not sure what the cause is. Motherboard has latest software and all other usb items work fine.

Any thoughts ?.

Update: Just tried the drives on W7 and all is well. The question now is can I put the disks in another external caddy, perhaps IC BOX and get back to normal ?

Hi wayupnorth,

putting the disks into another external enclosure shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know how to fix the problem with Windows 10. I hear more and more
complaints about Windows 10 making problems with USB 3 peripherals.

Best regards,
Stephan

Thanks for the reply. Went into panic mode today and purchased a WD MyCloud NAS. 4TB for £150 is not bad and can breathe again. Also provides DLNA which I have wanted for a while. Probably get new ICY BOX enclosures at some point to reuse the old drives which still contain previous backups, belt and braces...

Re: Icy Box IB-351StU3-B not happy with Windows 10

It is NOT "Windows 10 making problems with USB 3 peripherals". There is apparently a second device (a USB TV tuner made by Altobeam) with the same hardware ID.
The solution is to go to device manager and tell Windows to use the correct driver for the enclosure. See here: https://www.waltercedric.com/index.php? ... Itemid=334
