[IB-RD3640SU3] Slow transfer speeds

So i got IB-RD3640SU3 with 4x 2TB Toshiba Drives installed and begin to check each RAID configuration transfer speeds to get best realibility / performance ratio that meets my needs.
But in every possible option, from single drive to RAID10 the best read/write speeds i can achieve is 200mbps max, i know its not drives fault cause i used to have them in RAID10 done by Windows / Motherboard Controller and what i had was around 350mbps.

Is something bottlenecking transfer speeds from my PC to the box? USB 3.0 have around 5gbps max transfer rate so it should handle 4 drives with ease?

Also tried with eSATA, but it either see only one drive (in single), or nothing at all.

Also is i possible to use both USB3 and eSATA to somehow divide data transfer and also achieve auto on/off through esata?

Whats wrong with my box, or is it normal with such bad performance?

Re: [IB-RD3640SU3] Slow transfer speeds

Hello pivorsc,

do you get 200 MB/s (Mega BYTE) or 200 mbit/s (Mega BIT)?
USB 3.0 can do 5 gbit/s absolut max. In reality it is closer to
2 gbit/s. That translates into 250 MB/s.
So if you get 200 MB/s, you are most likely bottlenecked by the USB.

Bets regards,
Stephan

Re: [IB-RD3640SU3] Slow transfer speeds

I dont belive that USB is bottlenecking here, if it was, i would always get 250mb/s no matter what RAID type while using 4 drives, instead, the only option where i get 200+ is raid 0 with all four drives, both RAID10 and RAID5 reaches averange of 150mb/s.

Also i get almost exact same results with eSata.

Could it be, that the HDDs are the limiting factor?
Also you can try a diferent USB cable.
